Salad Greens & Squash

All Redwood Nursery Seeds are open pollinated and organically grown with natural fertilizers and no pesticides. All seed are pre-packaged and sell for $2.49 per package. Seed count and weights are indicated along with the seed descriptions.

Arugalla (Roquette)

A distinctively delicious leaf. Makes many nutty succulent leaves

for a different salad. 1 gram = 500 seeds

Mizuna

Sometimes called Chinese Celery. A delicious many- leafed green.

1 gram = 400 seeds

 

Gold Orach

Commonly called "Mountain Spinach." Attractive and flavorful

addition to salads. Grows well in summer when spinach does not.

Seeds can be used in baking. 1½ grams = 100 seeds

 

Persian Cress

A spring green with fine peppery flavor. Hardy and early for Spring

Salad. 1 gram = 200 seeds

 

Shuniku (Edible leaf chrysanthemum)

A delicious different salad leaf. Pick while young. Plants will spike

to 3 ft. With many small yellow/white daisy flowers. 1 gram = 100

seeds

 

China Choy

Thick, succulent stalks with tender, dark green leaves.

Great in salad or stir-fry. 1 gram = 300 seeds

 

 

America

Dark green crumpled savoyed leaves. Popular older variety, slot to

bolt, disease resistant. Excellent flavor and heavy yields. 4 grams =

250 seeds

 

Bloomdale

Best known and most popular of the spinach varieties. Erect green

savoyed leaves. Lighter flavor and color than the older varieties. 4

grams = 250 seeds

 

Summer Squash

 These varieties of squash produce edible fruits in the early part of the

Summer. The soft skins do not allow this type of squash to be stored.

 

Black-shelled Zucchini (Heirloom)

An older, running variety of summer squash. Young fruit are

tender and delicious. These fruits will get quite large and still be

good food, not bitter. Excellent for those large projects like

Zucchini Bread. (pepo) 20 seeds

 

Golden Scaloppini

Very prolific patty pan type with more abundant fruits than Yellow

Custard. Good flavor. (pepo) 3 grams = 25 seeds

Yellow Custard (Heirloom)

Yellow/orange scalloped summer squash with good flavor, texture

and color. (pepo) 18 seeds

 

Winter Squash

These varieties of squash are later maturing, hard-shelled, fruits that

store well into the winter season.

 

Baby Blue Hubbard, Blue Ballet

Smaller than the standard Blue. Same coloring and shape, but only

3 - 5 pounds. Good flavor. (maxima) 5 grams = 18 seeds

 

Connecticut Field Pumpkin

Popular large standard pumpkin. Round shapes land themselves

to carving and the thick flesh and good taste make this a

gardener's delight (pepo) 5 grams = 24 seeds

 

Delicata

Ivory cream color with green stripes sets off this small (2 - 3 lbs.)

winter squash. Perhaps the best tasting of the squashes or even

sweet potatoes. Prolific plants produce generous amount of these

long-keeping fruits (pepo) 3 grams = 24 seeds

 

Green Hubbard

Long-time favorite of the large Winter squash (15 lbs. easy). The

delicious quality of this thick fleshed fruit comes out either

steamed or baked. LARGE plants! Fruits store into next Spring.

Godiva (hull-less seed)

This variety is grown for the seeds that can be eaten without

Red Kuri
